Campo del Cielo

Campo del Cielo is a remarkable iron meteorite that fell to Earth approximately 4,000–5,000 years ago in the Gran Chaco region of northern Argentina. During its passage through Earth's atmosphere, the meteorite broke apart, scattering metallic fragments across a vast area and forming numerous impact craters. Classified as an IAB-MG iron meteorite, Campo del Cielo is composed primarily of iron and nickel, with material dating back approximately 4.5 billion years to the early formation of our Solar System. Each genuine fragment represents a physical piece of extraterrestrial material, offering a remarkable connection to the ancient history of our Solar System.
